Tour Overview

The Perfect Introduction to Karakoram Trekking

The Rakaposhi Base Camp trek starts from Minapin village in Nagar Valley, right beside the Karakoram Highway. It is one of the shortest and easiest treks to a 7,000m base camp anywhere in the world, making it ideal for first-time trekkers, families and anyone who wants a real Karakoram experience without technical climbing.

The trail climbs through forest and meadows to Hapakun and then to Tagaphari, the Rakaposhi base camp at around 3,300m. From here you see the full north face of Rakaposhi and Diran, joined by a 16 km ice wall, with the Minapin Glacier flowing below. Our extended itinerary also includes a glacier crossing to Diran Base Camp and a walk up to Kacheli Lake.

We are from Nagar, and our porters and cooks come from the same villages. The trek starts and ends in Islamabad and finishes with a free day to explore Karimabad in Hunza.
